certain post items not working

  • I’ve been having a problem with a few of the functions in creating a post. In my simple “Edit Post” on WordPress 3.1, these items are not working and I don’t know what’s wrong:

    1. I can’t use the “insert link” button in “visual”. I have to go into the HTML and insert a link that way, but since I’m not a programmer, I’m not comfortable inserting links in the HTML view. Everytime I put the “insert link” nothing happens. Is there something wrong with the Java?

    2. Tags – I try to add tags in the “edit post” section and nothing happens. The only way to add it is to “quick edit” when I’m not in the post.

    3. Scheduling post – the “edit” button does nothing so I can’t schedule a post in the future. Publish is the only button that works!

    I’ve tried this on 3 different computers in my house, so I don’t think it’s my computer that is causing the problem, but maybe something in my WordPress interface.

    Please advise…

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.
