    Hello,

I tried this plugin for the first time, so I’m not sure if this is a behavior or a bug. I enabled the toggle to auto sync my media gallery with Cloudinary and I could see my Cloudinary profile is getting updated, with transformations. My blog posts were loading images with Cloudinary URLs with no issue.

But on the next day, I noticed some images in a blog post are switched with irrelevant photos from other blog posts. This had happened in a random manner for me to identify any pattern. As I noticed this behavior in 4 other posts, I immediately un-linked my Cloudinary profile from WP. Now images are loaded from my server and the random replacements are gone.

Do you have any idea as to why this might have happened? Is it due to a file name overriding? Or maybe a performance limitation on my server?

    Thanks

    Hi Cloudinary team,

Any update on this? This is the only issue that keeps me from using your image CDN service.

    Thanks

    Hi @chevindu,

Sorry for the delay in response.

Can you please check if the images that are replaced and those which replace them share the same file name?
It can be also images with the same file name in your WP uploads folder but with a different file extension.

    Thanks,
    Raz

    Hi Raz,

That’s the thing. As I quickly unlinked the plugin from the site out of panic, I have no way of confirming that now. I now cannot recall what are the exact images that were swapped. There is certainly a possibility that the file names were similar, because the editor was not instructed to make them unique.

Technically, would it cause this type of behavior if the file names are similar?

    Thanks ??

    Hey @chevindu,

Cloudinary uses a combination of resource type (i.e. image, video, raw), type (i.e. upload, private, authenticated) and public id (which is the file name excluding the extension) as the external unique identifier of an asset. This means that two assets with the exact same combination of values cannot co-exist on your Cloudinary account, and one will overwrite the other. Therefore, if you do have two images like that, this is most likely the cause for the wrong image/s that you see in one or some of your posts.
Let me know if this is indeed the case?

    Best,
    Raz

    Hey Raz,

Thanks for the explanation on how Cloudinary sets the identifier. As I confronted the editor regarding this, it seems this was indeed the case. It seems I have some file name cleanup to do before activating the plugin again.

    Thanks for your time

    My pleasure @chevindu!

Please let me know if you still run into any issues after making sure the file names are different.
