center images in slider

Hello,
I have the problem, that images are aligned to the top of the slider.
My slider is 954×250 and I set the width to 954 and height to 0 in thumbnail settings.
the images are both landscape and portrait so I wanted them to just show the center of the image.
Do I have to change this in the css or js?thanks in advance
