    Hi,
I’m experiencing some troubles on my website after upgrading to WordPress 4.4.1 this morning. I use Jetpack for the wonderful gallery that creates and some other features, but I don’t have any CDN in place (also Photon is disabled). The issue that appeared today is that the website, every time I click on a photo, fails to load it… I checked the console and I got this:

Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 504 (Gateway Timeout)
    https://i0.wp.com/www.artwort.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Marco-Strappato-UntitledGround-detail-courtesy-the-Gallery-Apart.jpg

It searches it on iX.wp.com instead of searching it on the server.

I deactivated the plugin and everything works fine deactivating, but obviously I lose all the galleries.

I tried to deactivate-activate the plugin and also activate-deactivate Photon but nothing.

    The website is https://www.artwort.com

Thanks in advance for the support.

    KR,

    Tommaso

Up. I still have this issue that’s blocking my site and I can’t figure out how to solve it…

Jetpack’s Tiled Galleries module does indeed use Photon to resize your images on the fly and create the “tile” effect, even if you don’t use the Photon module.

If you don’t want to use Jetpack’s CDN at all, you’d need to deactivate both Photon and the Tiled Galleries module.

Your site doesn’t seem to be properly connected to WordPress.com at the moment. Whenever we try to access your site from a WordPress.com server, we get timeout errors. Do you use a security plugin to restrict access to your site? If you don’t use such a plugin, could you get in touch with your hosting provider, and ask them if they’ve blocked incoming traffic from WordPress.com servers? These servers are used by Jetpack to communicate with WordPress.com, and they’re also used when Photon crawls your site and downloads images.

Your host can look for Photon requests in their logs by searching for the Photon/1.0 user agent.

Let me know how it goes.

P.S.: It’s worth noting that we reply to every thread from the oldest to the newest. Every time you bump a thread, it goes back to the bottom of the queue, so I’d recommend against it.

    Hi Jeremy,
I read about Photon/Tiled Galleries after the posting… my bad, but good to know ??

I don’t have any security plugin and I tried also to deactivate every plugin and it doesn’t work anyway…

I contacted the hosting but they say that the requests are correctly accepted:

The issue happened after upgrading to 4.4.1, I don’t know if it’s related but I don’t see any other user having the same issue… what else can I check?

Thanks a lot for your support, you’re very kind.

Thanks for the extra details! I forwarded all these details to our team in charge of Photon, and we’ll get back to you as soon as we have some news.

It looks like your hosting provider is blocking traffic from some of the Photon servers.

I just sent an email to their support team with the details (ticket # 803699). If they don’t follow up in a few days, it might help for you to contact them directly with the same details and ask for a resolution.

Perfect thanks, I’ll let them know about that and reference your ticket.

In the meantime, I tried to deinstall and reinstall the plugin just to hope in a miracle, but nothing… now it’s not connecting anymore to wordpress.com

    Thanks again for your help.
