CContent used to be excellent tool but that is not the case anymore, I’m afraid. Today it made my site unaccessible as a whole. I set this rule:
    – General – logged in users ; all roles enabled
    – Protect – redirect ; login and back
    – Content: is the blog index AND is a post

As you may conclude, I wished to protect posts (not pages) and post archive page from unauthenticated users but whole site become inaccessible. I had to rename plugin on file system for gaining access again.

DEAR AUTHOR, WOULD YOU BE SO KIND AND UPDATE THAT EXCELLENT TOOL?
    Thanks in advance!

@wprat – Unfortunately without an error message I’m not sure what could have been going wrong.

To be honest, your targeting wouldn’t do anything at all outside of the blog index.

To be clear, for what you were after you would have used OR. AND requires that both conditions are true at the same time.

But is_post() returns true some times on the blog index page because it detects the first post in the list.

Also, this plugin does nothing about wp-admin or the login/logout pages etc, only pages where your theme would render does this actually attempt to block anything.

All in all the setup you describe and the outcome you faced do not match up in terms of being related, so my only conclusion is something did occur, but it likely wasn’t due to that rule specifically.

Did you have error messages or just couldn’t access your home page? Also curious if you tried clearing your browser cookies? I’ve experienced redirect loops before due to setting up redirects then removing them, but the browser caches redirects for a while and requires clearing cache/cookies.

Hope that helps. Let me know.
