• I have installed the free version of Wordfence. When I try to scan my website, it gives me an error of wp_remote_post() test back to this server failed! I followed Wordfence troubleshooting steps and discovered when I deactivate PilotPress, I can scan my site with Wordfence. When I turn PilotPress back on, I get the error. I need to use Wordfence to protect my site. I need a fix or workaround, please.

  • On a clean install on our servers, with just PilotPress and WordFence plugins installed, the scan runs fine: Screenshot of scan results

First, try whitelisting the PilotPress / Ontraport IP ranges in Wordfence > Firewall > All Firewall Options. Under “Advanced Firewall Options” check off the “Delay IP and country checking” check box and in the “Whitelisted IP addresses that bypass all rules” box put these two entries:

    209.170.211.160/27
    66.205.189.32/27

It will look like this screenshot.

Second, use “Start scans remotely”: Here’s an image showing where that option is: Start all scans remotely.

Third, try testing the ajax handler: add /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php to the end of your domain name and the result should be a blank page with a 0 at the top left as seen in this screenshot.

See if these steps work. There is additional troubleshooting available at Wordfence’s help article: If your scans aren’t starting.
