• I built a website for a nonprofit hurricane relief organization about a year ago. Suddenly the site is disabled and I get this message:

Catchable fatal error: Object of class wpdb could not be converted to string in /home/…/wp-content/plugins/category_vis-rh.php on line 212

any ideas? i need to fix it a.s.a.p. because they deploy to disaster sites and need the site to be up!

    thanks in advance,
    noah d

  • Deactivate the plugin?

(upgrade your vulnerable WP to the latest version)

yeah, i’d like to, but the site is heavily modified and i used a lot of plugins. i need to get this plugin working, the site has categories for the public and categories used by the relief workers, and i need to hide the second group. i really just need to get this plugin working again.

i didn’t mean to imply that it was disabled on purpose, i just meant that it was broken. maybe my host upgraded something… i dunno… if anybody might have any ideas for me, please lemme know…

    anyone else had this problem?

When a plugin stops working because of upgrades (either in WP or in the server software) – you look for replacements. That’s a better idea than bumping your posts ??

For the newer WP versions there is a plugin “category exluder”
Scroll up > Extend > Plugins … search etc.

so if anyone else has this problem, what i did to fix it was reinstall the plugin from the author’s plugin page, i guess the php file got corrupted or something… so there you go… peace

If any files on your 2.0.5 WP got corrupted… you better start upgrading, usually it is a sign of being hacked.

    I have same problem.
    How did you fix it?
