Category (terms) IDs should not change, but it happens!

    I’ve noticed that after editing several times the categories (I go to categories page in admin panel, click on all of them (open one window to edit each category – at the same time), and then save them.

    What occurs? some categories change their IDs, and others that were saved later will get a parent_id = 0 .

    The problem here is NOT because I opened several windows to edit multiple categories.

    I think terms (which includes TAGS and Categories) should not have their Ids changed.

    This thing if bugging some plugins that store the category ID of a post to something.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-related problems.
