Category summary

In your catgory template use the template tag, the_excerpt().

Im kind of a dummy in this area, have been looking through the different links you send me, but im not kind of sure what exact to do and where to do it?

1. Switch to the WordPress Default theme.

2. Copy wp-content/themes/default/index.php to wp-content/themes/default/category.php

3. Edit category.php and change

<?php the_content('Read the rest of this entry &raquo;'); ?>

to

<?php the_excerpt(); ?>

4. Then try to duplicate that with your theme.

I do see the Index.php but i do not have the category.php in my default folder?
Would i just copy the text and add it to the text in category or would it past it so it delete the original category context?

Download wp-content/themes/default/index.php to your local computer. Rename it category.php. Upload category.php to the wp-content/themes/default folder.

Note…some hosting control panels will allow you to copy files also, without having to use FTP.

Okay great, i got it to work in the default template.. so do you want me to upload my template and change the index to category as i tried in the default or?

That would be the way to go…except DON’T change the index to category but rather copy index.php to category.php.
