Category / SubCategory / Article – But don’t want show on breadcrumb in article

  • Hi ! Thank so much for this amazing plugin ! And sorry for my bad english cause i’m a frenchy boy !

    My question on Breadcrumb NavXT is : I have a category “blog” (That i could switch to a page if necessary) – In this parent category “blog” I have some Subcategory (house, garden…) – In this some Subcategory I have some articles range inside.

    I would like to not display the subcategory in the articles breadcrumbs.

    Blog – House – Article NO
    Blog – Article
    YES

    Or if not possible to do not display it at all. (by making a category exclusion maybe?)

    Ps : I use Divi and the builder which offer a lot of personnalisation possibilities

    I think and hope be clear ??

    You really should not have “Blog” as a category. If it is not the frontpage of your site, then it should be a page and should be specified as the “Posts page” under Settings > Reading in the WordPress admin area. After that has been done, if you do not want a hierarchy leading to posts, in the Breadcrumb NavXT settings page, go to the “Post Types” tab. In that tab, uncheck the “Post Hierarchy Display” setting, and then press the “Save Changes” button at the bottom of the page.

    Thanks John, but in articles I need have breadcrumb, just remove some subcategories, if I uncheck Post Hierarchy Display i wont have my breadcrumb.

    Since you don’t have your WordPress site configured properly (using Blog as a category instead of using the “page for posts”), there isn’t an out-of-box solution for this. You can write some custom code to remove the unwanted breadcrumbs. You could use the bcn_after_fill action for this (iterate through the members of the bcn_breadcrumb_trail::breadcrumbs array, check against the id and type). Otherwise, the uManager extension plugin provides an interface for toggling the inclusion of posts (of any post type), and terms (of any taxonomy) from the breadcrumb trail.
