Category Short Codes

    I am trying to build a custom home Page with three columns. I have it set up right just need the short codes if possible to do it.

    The page will be set up like this.

    Featured Post:
    Need Short Code to show the category labled featured, with exceprt and thumbnail

    Categories: This is set in three columns
    I need shortcode for most recent 5 posts with excerpt and thumb from Category A, B and C seperately.

    Recent Posts:
    This will show the 15 most recent posts, with exceprt and thumb.

    Is this possible via short code?
