Category selection in Post – Is there a way to force a selection?

  • Is there a way to have all categories unselected in a new post window and thereby forcing the writers to actually choose the proper one? Many of my submitter’s fail to select the category and then wonder why they can’t find it. I have uncategorized as a category that doesn’t show up and that’s the default selected category.
    Also, I read something about an Advance Post and a Basic Post window selection in the Admin/options/writing, but I can’t find it. Any advice Thanks

  • There is no advanced and basic anymore – that’s old story.

    Rewriting the core files to achieve what you ask for, would be a major overhaul. One (the default) category is always selected because if a post wouldn’t be assigned to a category, that would bork your blog. And as they do not select the proper category now, they would forget to select one at all…

    Yup. Which is why I’m still using the tweak “YO MORON! Did you pick a category?” on my own blogs…. because I AM blonde, senior and a space cadet….

    Somehow, I suddenly remembered that tweak ??

    Heh, well, it works for me…. it’s still tweaking core code, but I don’t have any problem with that.
