• Hi, it’s me again. Still testing JobScout and got a problem with the category-filter:

1.) There’s no placeholder on top of the category-list, so the first category is shown as “default”. Thus it’s not possible to do a search without limiting to one category

2.) The filter doesn’t seem to work: when choosing a category listings from other categories are shown anyway. (I found this old post referring to the same issue but can hardly imagine it’s still not working…)

Keyword- and location filters seem to work correctly.

Any help or info would be greatly appreciated…

  • Hello @revilo2020de,

    1. Currently this is not available on the theme. However, I have transferred this to the development team as a feature request.

    2. Can you please make sure that you have the correct shortcode [jobs]added on the Job/Job search page?

If you have any further queries then you can also contact our dedicated support forum here.

    Thank you.

    Hello @rarathemesupport,

many thanks for your reply and for forwarding #1 to the developers. I have just recognized that the WP Job Manager-plugin already provides a placeholder titled “Choose a category…”, which seems to be used in the “Post Job”-form in JobScout. So I hope it won’t be a big issue to include it in the search-form as well.

Re #2: I use the standard page installed during WP Job Manager-setup and it includes the [jobs]-shortcode. Hope this helps…

    Hello @revilo2020de,

#1. Yes, the development team will look into this and will add this.

#2. Regarding the issue, can you please make sure that you haven’t selected the same homepage and job page? Check here.

Because when I search the page is redirecting just to the homepage rather than the jobs search page.

    Thank you.

    Hello @rarathemesupport,

in fact I have the same page as homepage and job-search/result-page. I thought that the filters would also be working in the jobs-section (below the banner). Obviously they are not, but are only effective for search-results displayed on the jobs-page. I’ll change that and issue #2 is resolved.

    Thank you very much!

    @rarathemesupport:

#1 workaround (or solution?): I copied template-parts/header-form.php to a child theme folder and added the following code to get a placeholder:

    <option value="" selected><?php esc_attr_e( 'Job Category', 'jobscout' ); ?></option>

    Hello @revilo2020de,

I am happy to hear that your issue 2 has been resolved.

And workaround for issue 1 seems to be just fine.

If you have any further questions, feel free to write to us.

    Thank you.
