• Thanks for any help up front.
I have a wp3.05 install and I am using the “Restrict Categories” plugin to keep certain writers from different categories, and it works perfect when a user logs in through the web site. However, I enabled the xml-rpc so writers can post via phone apps, and when a user posts through their phone all categories are available for posting, including the restricted ones. This will cause trouble, so my question is: Has anyone found a way to restrict categories to users using mobile apps? I am using “Restrict categories” now, but I am not stuck on it, or if there are any tweaks I can use I’d be happy for any help.
The phone apps we tested were for: blackberry, iphone, and android.
Each one had access to restricted categories.
And thanks for any help on the back!

  • That’s something I’m going to have to look into.

Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

No problem. Noticed one other thing. Have after categories are set up for users, if you add another category, you have to reset all settings or cannot view new cat on post page or, plugin settings page. Once reset, you must redo all options. Otherwise, this is a great plugin. Thanks a lot for the work.

I haven’t been able to replicate the problem you mention. I just went in and added a new category and it showed right up in the settings.

Would you be willing to help me test a bit of code that might be a solution to this? Let me know if you are comfortable with adding a bit of PHP code to your copy of the plugin.

Version 1.9 is out and now supports XML-RPC

Thanks, and sorry I didn’t reply back sooner. I would have tested the php for you, sure, but it seems you are past that point now. I will be upgrading to the new version soon. Thanks a lot!
