• Using membership 2 to protect a category the list says ‘NO CATEGORIES’ if logged out or it shows the full list if logged in. If I deactivate the add-on the full list is visible for logged-on and logged-off visitors which is how the site is currently set to.

Hello @kevindgreenhill, I hope you are doing well today!

Would you please elaborate and let us know, do you mean the Widget with the list of categories, shows ‘NO CATEGORIES’?

This what the “Category Protection” add-on do, it hides the categories from non members. If you wish the categories to be visible for non loged in users, or to non-members activate the “Individual Posts” add-on to protect each post instead of Categories.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

    Kind regards,
    Nastia

    In a way yes.

I only want to protect the category ‘secure news’

However, when it is selected for protection the whole list gets hidden from non-members rather than just that specific category?

    Hi @kevindgreenhill,

We are currently testing similar issue with category protection, can you try downloading linked file, unzip it and place it inside your /wp-content/plugins/membership/app/rule/category/ folder and see if it works after that?

    Download it here.

    Cheers,

Hi I’m new to WordPress – can you send me a screenshot of where I go to do this please ??

    Hi @kevindgreenhill,

For this change you will need to have FTP or cPanel access to your WordPress installation files.
Once you have accessed the files simply navigate to folder mentioned above and place new file there and replace the existing one.

ok – I’ll have to get the login details from my client which won’t be easy but I’ll see what i can do

    Hi @kevindgreenhill,

You could ask your client to that since it only requires replacing one file.

Another way of doing it would be downloading the plugin, then replace the file on your PC, zip it again and re-install the plugin ??

    Hi @kevindgreenhill,

Huh, that’s strange, I tested this fix before providing you with it and it worked fine, I did another test on my end just now and categories show normally after applying the fix.

Can you create one account with membership so I can have another look at your site?

You can send me login for that account by using our contact form here:
