• Hi,

    I’m having an issue with the WP-Cumulus plugin. I have it installed on my blog, but when I click on a category it goes to a blank white page. I have uninstalled/reinstalled the plugin several times and it still doesn’t work.

    This week I created a second blog. Used the same theme (actually I just copied the folder into the new blog file so it is EXACTLY the same theme). Then I changed some aesthetics like font and color on the stylesheet and added a new logo. The two themes are using the same plugins, but on the new one Cumulus works where it doesn’t work on the older blog. I can’t figure it out.

    There is a difference; on my older blog when I click on the category in the cloud it goes to a URL like this;

    https://capecodbranding.com/blog/category/psychology/

    (and the page is blank)

    On the new blog when I click a category in the cloud it goes to a URL like this;

    https://analyticasystemsinc.com/blog/?cat=3

    (and the page opens with a blog post from that category)

    I’m trying to figure out how to fix my older blog so it directs to the same type of url as the newer one (that works).
    Maybe I messed something up somewhere? ??

    Thanks in advance for your help!
    amy

  • What permalink structure are you using exactly? And does the regular categories widget link to the same urls (and have the same issue)?

    Hi Roy,

    My link structure is;

    https://capecodbranding.com/blog/2009/07/27/sample-post/

    (date and name).

    I tried a couple other category widgets and none of them work (and they all link to the same url).

    I looked on my other blog, where the cat cloud does work, and the link structure is the ‘default’ one. Is there a way to reconfigure your widget to work with the structure I’m using now (so I don’t have to alter my link format?)

    Thanks!

    Well, the problem apparently isn’t with WP-Cumulus. It simply displays links provided by WordPress. If the regular categories widget has the same issue than it’s either the links that are getting formatted the wrong way or some other issue that causes your blog to not be able to display them.

    Have you tried setting the permalink structure to ‘default’ as a test? I’m pretty sure that will help (but not in terms of SEO). I know very little about how permalinks work, so I’m afraid won’t be able to help you.

    Hi Roy,

    Thanks for the response. At least now I’m one step closer to knowing what the problem is and can look for new answers. ??

    Thanks so much for your time and help. I’m glad the problem wasn’t with Cumulus, it is an awesome plugin!

    Thanks again,
    amy
