Hi, is it possible to exclude some categories from the automation of the primary category?

Let me explain, I would like that if I select two different categories, the primary category is automatically set, which must not be the category I would like to exclude.

    Example:
    Category A
    Category B
    Category Z

I would like category Z not to be automatically set as the primary category. Category Z can be a primary category only if it is manually selected from the various categories.
So if I have a post that is published on Category A, and Category Z. Category Z doesn’t have to be the primary one. It can be primary, only if set manually.

I have subcategories that I use as “featured” (like sticky posts) to highlight only some posts.

Is this possible with a php function?

    Thanks for support.

    Hello @marcorroma,

Thank you for contacting the support and sorry for not following up quickly and any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Sorry for the confusion but can you please rephrase your question if the following solution does not help?

We provide an option to change the Primary term.

So, if you don’t want XYZ category as Primary then you can just change it from the dropdown.

    Hope that helps.

Hi, I wish some categories were never automatically set as “primary category”.
    It’s possible?
It’s like setting some categories high priority and other categories low priority.
    I hope I explained myself.
    thanks for support

    Hello @marcorroma,

    Sorry for the confusion.

Sorry to disappoint but that feature is unfortunately not available at this time. All the code for the Primary term is added via JS and we don’t have any filter to remove certain categories from Primary Term dropdown.

With that being said, there are existing feature requests, so I’ve added your vote to our internal suggestions lists. If your suggestions are something that we’re able to introduce, I’ll be sure to let you know.

If there’s anything else we can help you with, please let us know. We are here to assist.
