Category post links not working

  • I’m not sure when it stopped working, but in the last week my category and my tag links are no longer working. I have updated some plugins in but even when they are all disabled the links still don’t work. Redirecting to specific categories has been a big part of my site and I’ve had to take some of these pages off my menu until this problem gets fixed. Please help.     Try re-saving your permalink structure at Settings/Permalinks in your admin panel. If WordPress cannot automatically edit the .htaccess file, it will provide manual instructions after saving.

    If that makes no difference, try deactivating all plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

    If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Twenty Fourteen theme to rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

    Sorry I missed this answer. I have done the first two and had no change. I have a custom theme and it always worked before and i’m not sure where to go from here.

    Does everything work properly if you temporarily switch to the Twenty Fourteen or Twenty Fifteen themes?

    I also changed the theme and that didn’t work either

    Hm, that’s odd.

    Try downloading WordPress again and delete then replace your copies of everything except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings. Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.
