Since updating to the latest version of Yoast on one of my sites, the Yoast SEO dialog box on my category pages isn’t showing.

I can confirm this was visible prior to the update as I was editing it the day before I ran the update. I haven’t tried rolling back yet, as I don’t need to make any edits at this stage.

I’ve checked the settings in Search Appearance > Taxonomies and everything is enabled for categories. Also there’s no Screen Options button in the header to check for on the individual category pages.

I’m also using ACF and I can confirm that their fields are still functioning correctly on category pages, if that helps.

I’ve run with debug enabled and I get this error:

Catchable fatal error: Argument 1 passed to WPSEO_Metabox_Tab_Section::add_tab() must implement interface WPSEO_Metabox_Tab, boolean given, called in /var/www/vhosts/website/httpdocs/public/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/admin/metabox/class-metabox-tab-section.php on line 60 and defined in /var/www/vhosts/website/httpdocs/public/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/admin/metabox/class-metabox-tab-section.php on line 109

I’m getting the same errors now. To update my category landing pages, I have to disable yoast to save any new work and then enable yoast so that I keep my meta data. WTF! This was a lousy update

I’m using a genesis custom child theme if that helps.

I also noticed the sitemap has been removed from the menu. However, the sitemap is still live and working.

I’m assuming the missing visual editor in category view mode is related to this?

Not good and hoping this is a bug that will be taken care of quickly.

I did deactivate Yoast temporarily and was able to at least save any changes but all visual editing capability was gone and of course, the Yoast settings were not on the page.

Yoast seems fine in pages and posts.

It’s not just regular categories, but this applies to Woocommerce product categories too. With the plugin enabled my “update” button disappears entirely so i can’t make any changes to product categories.

#metoo . . WooCommerce Product Category SEO by Yoast is absent (MIA) since Yoast SEO 7 and 7.0.1 . . otherwise fine upgrade . . appreciate the plainer language plugin menu navigation . . more understandable . . WordPress 4.9.4 / WooCommerce 3.3.3 / Yoast SEO 7.0.1 / ShopKeeper theme 2.4.7 (Child in-use) . . anything else ? . . Imagery linked showing the mentioned difference between Yoast 6.3.1 and Yoast 7 (https://drive.google.com/open?id=1q_PDhqmaS6phfcSKwn7y3jdvnM3kOBfO) . . Also got SEO stuck in the shell which needs an update but, for now, no admin access way to amend . . What are we, simply, missing here ? . . Or are we confused and in need of clarity ? . . Anyone ? . .

    Mean-time and for now,
    Much appreciated . . much obliged . .

PS. Previously reported (1 day ago) directly to Yoast at yoast.com by way of, seemingly, relevant and related Yoast published post with negative feedback and linked imagery (post just update March 6 2018 and still no useful solution). And since Yoast SEO 7.0.1 ain’t no fix we gonna prosecute this here wrinkle in our perfect SEO right here wit cha .

PPS. Yup and yes, we can also confirm that any WooCommerce product category update is impossible in admin because the update button is MIA too . Yikes .
(switch off Yoast Meta SEO for Product Category, and save, to again have admin update / delete button access But without any SEO box below)

PPS. Yup and yes, we can further confirm that any WordPress category update is impossible in admin because the update button is MIA as well . Yikes !
(switch off Yoast Meta SEO for Category, and save, to again have admin update / delete button access But without any SEO box below)

And in these here admin screens mentioned above are the standard WordPress “Screen Options” pull-down tab (top right) which do not respond to any clicky click click . Yikes !!
(switching off Yoast Meta SEO for Product Category and Category, and saving, will, also, again allow “Screen Options” pull-down menu But of little use when looking for SEO option since we gone done switched SEO off to get pull-down functionality again – catching my 22?)

Bumpity bump bump . . if you please . .

I have the same problems. I cannot edit a category at all without deactivating the yoast plugin.

    Here’s a response I got from Joost:

not all that much has changed with categories… You might want to check under Search Appearance → Taxonomies what your settings for those categories are. If the “Show metabox” toggle there is set wrong, nothing appears. If that’s the case, flipping it back on should restore it.

However, I did check and things are set to show, but I did find a way to update without deactivating the entire plugin.

Go to Search Appearance → Taxonomies, then set the Category “show metabox” to “hide”. Do your changes since now the update button appears. One would assume an update will come out to fix this, but until then you can at least work with categories but without the Yoast SEO Box missing still.

in addition. The latest 7.2 works on an out-of-date storefront theme but doesn’t on an updated version. One is a test site.

We apologize for any inconvenience. A bug report is currently open in our development repository for this issue that you can find here: https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues/9142 and our developers are already working hard to fix the issue. We are expecting this issue to be fixed in the Yoast SEO v7.0.2.

In the meantime, please enable the Facebook open graph and Twitter card from the Yoast SEO social settings to resolve this issue.

@letterafterz @mike1019 @bearcatsandor @boutiquelife @jennyhp There is already an active bug report related to this issue at the following link: https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues/9142

This issue is related to that under the Social settings, either Facebook or Twitter is disabled. A temporary fix would be to enable both social platforms (Facebook and Twitter) until we release a new patch. Can you please try that and let us know if that resolves your issue?

The Facebook/Twitter solution got it back for me. Thanks!

@devnihil Could get it working by enabling FB/Twitter.

Enabling twitter has got it back for me : ) Thanks for the update..
