    I’m a Storefront user.

I have a question I hope somebody can answer. I have a site, lets call it https://www.mysite.com.

The site ranks well. For some keywords it ranks very well (first page) and for other keywords ir ranks decent (second page) and for others less god (third or fourth page).

    I have one page, a category page, e.g https://www.mysite.com/product-category/categoryname.
This category page is an “important page”.

When I do a Google search for categoryname I find other pages (information pages of less importance) from my site that contains the word “categoryname”. However, the categorypage mentioned doesn’t show up.

The page is indexed, of course. It was last crawled yesterday. The SEO looks OK. However by some reason it seems like Google doesn’t like to show that page in the search results.

Any idea why it’s like this, and is there a solution?

    Hello @boppar

I assume the issue is with a specific category and not all categories.

Can you please ensure that for the option to ‘Allow search engines to show this Category in search results?’, you chose ‘Yes’? This setting is found in the Yoast metabox of the edit Category page for the particular category affected.

    Hi @maybellyne
Yes, it’s just a specific category.

“Allow search engines to show this Category in search results?” is set to Yes.

@boppar Unfortunately we can’t say exactly why Google would choose to not rank the category page for a specific search search query. Unfortunately, this type of question is outside the scope of the support we can provide. Giving?SEO advice, in most cases, requires a deep analysis of your site to provide accurate advice for your specific setup, even for what may seem to be a simple question. At Yoast, we want to help people improve their site and to make SEO attainable for everyone. So we offer?Yoast Academy?courses on all aspects of SEO, several great plugins, and a?comprehensive SEO blog.?We understand that not everyone has the interest or time to learn SEO.?Our main advice at this point?would be to check for a local SEO company and see if they can help out. If you are using a web development agency, you could ask them, as most agencies have at least a basic understanding of SEO as well – the good ones do.

We are going ahead and marking this issue as resolved due to inactivity. If you require any further assistance please create a new issue. Thank you!
