I have created a photosite https://www.simpsonscottphotography.com and everything seems to work fine. However when using the browse/gallery section of the site there is an annoying feature and I wondered if there was a work around or a plugin that may resolve this.

When you go into the category listings of posts, then a user clicks a post from the result page, it takes the user to that post, if the user then clicks older or newer posts it takes them out of that category and shows them ANY post from ANY category that is older or newer than the original.

I could really do with the user only being able to see posts form that category, if they click older it takes them to and older post but only from the category they want to search.

Is there a solution for this?

Excellent, thank you for your help..

One last question regarding this then..

The in_same_cat controls this nicely but only on a parent category level, is there any way of applying this to child categories?

Works for child categories for me, but of course I don’t check parent categories when writing a post, just the child category.

Ah, so if only a child category is selected it will only show posts from that child, if you select the parent AND the child it will show all of the posts under both?

It’s halfway there, I kinda need to categorise under both parent and child but only show child posts when that selection is chosen.

Might look for “breadcrump” type plugins to see if there’s something you like. Use search terms “wordpress plugin breadcrumb”
