category page empty

    one more thing that happened for the first time: my category page ist empty, no matter if i check or uncheck “overwrite formats”.
    clean fresh wp install
    events manager is the only active plugin
    permalink structure /%category%/%postname%
    tag and category base empty
    all EM page types point to the same wp page.
    that page displays the calendar correctly.
    overview on 2nd page also working
    single event working
    just the category page returns empty html.
