• Hi guys, I usually don post problems unless im really stuck and ive been looking for a solution to this problem for the past couple of days and I cant seem to find a solution.

Basically i need to display the single category name on single.php. I have a solution to showing the single category name on single.php, however I seem to have a problem with sub categories.

I have a news category with 4 more sub categories… Music News, Movie News, Other News etc.

When displaying the single category name on single.php for Music News, I get “Music News” which is what I want. However on Other News, it will display the single category name as “News” instead of “Other News”.

I investigated this and it seems that it will show the parent category name before the sub category name if alphabetically the first letter of the sub category name comes AFTER the parent category name.

To explain further, I treid displaying the full category breadtrail (not just the single category name) and this is what I got for each news section:

Music News – ‘Music News > News’
Movie News – ‘Movie News > News’
Game News – ‘Game News > News’
Other News – ‘News > Other News’

as you can see in the last one, its not displaying the same order, although all categories are set up correctly with News being the parent category to each one.

In order for me to fix a problem, I need News to either show up last or first (preferably first) in all of them and not randomly as ‘Other News’ displays.

I hope ive explained clearly and i hope someone can help, ive tried everything, deleting and re-adding the categories, category order plugins but nothing is working.

Any help would be really appreciated.

    Adam.

oh one thing I thought I should mention is that im using Breadcrumb NavXT plugin and that seems to be displaying all the categories in the correct order… with ‘News’ coming before any sub category name.

I just thought maybe this could help solve the problem.

    [No bumping, please.]
