• I have set specific role restrictions to categories but this does not seem to work. If I access the site as a non logged in user, I can search for a post and view that post within a restricted category. The same goes for when I apply a role restriction to an individual post. The plugin works perfectly for restricting access to certain pages and everything else works perfectly – ie login screens, registration etc. In addition, if I insert content restriction tags within posts then this works.

I have tried deactivating a number of other plugins, switching themes and toggling the plugin on/off. I have also tried creating brand new categories and posts to no avail.

I am using the right-hand options on posts to set the restrictions to logged in users and selecting the roles I want to provide access too. I have looked the documentation and can’t see what I could be doing wrong.

Otherwise it’s an awesome plugin! Exactly what I need. Would appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks!

    Hi @grantcholland,

Have you tried to add built-in restricted category to your posts?
What version of the Ultimate member do you have?

    Let us know.
    Regards.

    Hi,

    Version number is: 1.3.88.

Many thanks for the reply. I am not sure what you mean. I have tried a number of plugins trying to achieve lock down on the site for certain users so not sure if this has made things ‘dirty’ even though I have deactivated and/or removed them now.

After further testing I have established something.. if I create a new category which I restrict to certain Ultimate Member roles and then add a new post to that category it seems to work as designed. What doesn’t seem to work, is adding the plugin and then retrospectively applying the restriction to the category, post or both. I can still see the header and excerpt of the restricted post but I think that is fully expected?

So I think I can workaround by redoing the categories and content and also knowing that anything new will work fine. Given the site is still in proto-type phase this will work for me as the plugin is doing everything else perfectly. If there is any code or tips on retrospectively applying restrictions then that would be great else I will go with my plan.

    Thanks again!

    Hi

Can I ask this question too, please? I also have found that categories I have marked as restricted by UM, complete with a redirection to the login page, are still shown if a non-logged-in user enters the category url directly; however, I’ve tried adding a new category, as with @grantcholland’s workaround, and that still isn’t restricted.

I’m on v1.3.88, & would appreciate it if you could suggest why this is happening.

    Thanks
    Pete

    Hi guys,

I have a similar problem. The restrictions are not working for my blog page.
    @ultimatemembersupport could you please help?

    Thanks,

Any movement on this … i’m having same issue.

    Hi, friends!

I also need this feature, but I can’t find where to set a restriction on the whole category. I looked through everything very carefully — I can not find!

    Please, tell me
