category not working – check dissappear after saving post

  • Please help.

    When i create post, i am unable to assign category to them. i create post, check the category box example NEWS, save/update and the check disappear from the category box and then post doesn’t end up in news page.
    it sits in uncategorised.

    If i don’t assign a category, it doesn’t end up in uncategorised either.

    it just have – in category column when i see all post.

    older post that have category set – they are fine but if i check some other category and update them, check disappear from all category check on that post.

    Any idea advice please ??

  • Can you replicate the problem using the default Twenty Twelve theme with all plugins deactivated?

    it would be tough to do, as its a live site. you think that would help ractify the issue . i guess eh… ??

    i do see that my friend have installed quit a bit of plugins on it.

    any other easy fix or tip before i try that complicated process. ??

    There is no magic bullet in these situations. This is just the start of basic troubleshooting and is a process of elimination deliberately designed to locate the root cause as quickly as possible by first removing the most obvious and common culprits via a series of (often) temporary steps.

    ok , i will start troubleshooting and will let you guys know what caused it if i find the fix.
    Thanks, meanwhile if someone came accross this situation before, please share the fix.
