• Hello,

I have an e-commerce client who sells products that belong to multiple categories (food, sundries, toys, etc), thus i cannot locate a single google/facebook product category that represents them all, in order to create my feed

How should i set up the category mapping section, for this situation?

    Thank you

  • Hi,

Thanks for using our plugin and reaching out to us.

I am going to assume that your client had all of its products in one WooCommerce category, regardless if the product is food, toys or sundries? If so, then indeed there is a problem with mapping those products to Google’s category taxonomy. However since about half a year it is no longer mandatory to provide Google with a category mapping. See: https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/6324436?hl=en

The google_product_category attribute is optional, and can be used to override Google’s automatic categorization in specific cases.

So you can also trust on Google’s category mapping capabilities and don’t do any mapping.

    Thanks for your answer,

    One more issue:

i try to fill in the Category Mapping, but no auto suggestions are generated (although i started typing), thus i cannot choose anything.

    Any reason why?

Make sure to have at least typed in 4 characters because only then the autosuggest will come up with suggestions that match your characters. Also, sometimes the autosuggest shows on the left upper corner of the browser instead of the input field itself.

It was on the left upper, and needed to scroll up also

    Thanks
