Category Links do not work!

  • Please can someone help me?
    I have been going over and over and cannot find a solution.
    I have made 3 categories.
    I have 3 posts.
    One post is linked to 1 category(Create Make Do) and the other 2 posts are linked to another category (Monthly Mandala)
    Now my categories are in the navigation bar but if you click on them you just get Error 404 page not found.
    This is driving me crazy, I have looked at permalinks, I’ve tried changing my theme, I have deleted the categories and the menu and then added the categories again.
    Is there a simple way that I am missing something?
    Please help in easy to understand terms as I am new to this and do not understand lots of technical jargon!
    Many thanks in advance and will be very grateful for for any sensible help, please?!

  • I don’t know how but you have created ‘categories’ under archives where categories should be ‘standalone’ items.

    This article goes into a pretty good description of Categories and should help you figure out what is wrong. https://www.wpbeginner.com/glossary/category/

    My guess is you don’t have actual categories under archives or else WordPress is trying to find a category via the archive mechanism and is getting lost in the process.

    Since you are using WooCommerce, you are likely creating Product Categories.

    Product Categories. are not the same as the default categories.

    I would revisit the permalinks setting and simply save the current setting.

    Otherwise, please refer to support at WooCommerce for this issue.

    Also, it looks like you are using WooCommerce with this Theme:

    You will have to review if that theme supports Woo out of the box and what else may need to be done if not.

    You also are having an issue with CF7.
