Category Linking

Hello.
In my theme (https://www.thehowellsnest.com) how do i get a link to point to a certain category? I have my permalink structure that looks like (/%category%/%postname%) however when i point my browser to https://www.thehowellsnest.com/category/jrock-series or https://www.thehowellsnest.com/jrock-series it just takes me back to the homepage and not to the category itself.
Bit stuck on this one.
