Category link shows image if new post within 24 hours

  • I am looking to create a script that will show my visitors if there is a new post within a certain category.

    I have a category name News when clicked it pulls up the archive.php and shows all posts within that category. Right now, I have the category name in my header.php. I want to be able to tell my users there is a new post there if it was posted within the last 24 hours.

    How can I do that?
