Category incorrectly created 404 error

  • created a few new categories and posted to one, which shows up on main page with category link, but when I click on permalink title or the category I get a 404 page not found error and it shows “The requested URL /myblogcategory/products1/ does not exist.” where it’s trying to add the word “category” to my blog name and access a new directory that doesn’t exist /myblogcategory/.

    does this on all my newly created categories.

    Anybody have any ideas?

  • Do *any* of your Permalinks work?
    If you visit Options -> Permalinks and chose Default, do things work better?

    If so, check the troubleshooting stuff on the Permalinks codex page.

    Yes, thank you HandySolo. I apparently put in a custom permalink URL that it couldn’t work with.

    All’s well now. It’s always the little things.
