Category in Gallery Shortcode

Is there any way to add something to the shortcode for a gallery that will have it display all the photos from a specific category, automatically?

This is what I have now:
[gallery link="file" type="square" ids="2309,2308,2307,2306,2305"]
but, ideally, the gallery would fill with the photos from a specific category, rather than adding ID’s individually.

Any ideas?
