CATEGORY IDs

    I have a simple question “HOW DO YOU FIND THE CATEGORY ID in wp 2.5.1” I am using dagondesigns plugin for sitemap and want to exclude certain categories from showing up. The next question would be “WHY DID WP TEAM decide to magically vanish the category ids, knowing that many of the plugins demand that as an input parameter?”

  • No need to shout, the question has been asked before.
    Yes its gone but you can still tell what the category id is if you hover over category name in manage->categories.
    AND NO ITS NOT GONE.

    I CANT see any hover text. I am using Firefox 3. But i did figure it out. Right click on categories and click properties. See the url. At the end you find cat_ID:10 etc. that is the category id.
