• Hi.. I have a weird technical issue ..

    permalinks are set to /%category%/%postname%/

I am using the WP No Category Base plugin which takes the “category” out of the permalink.. all good…

BUT problem is.. using the drop-down category widget on my sidebar..clicking the categories in the dropdown list goes to the right category pages whether they are to hierarchy or sub-category but
some are showing as the default permalink structure.. ie: go to my site https://homeremedieslog.com.. then use category dropdown top right sidebar and click on the top category “alternative remedies” and you will see it shows as https://homeremedieslog.com/?cat=1186 but it should be showing as https://homeremedieslog.com/alternative-medicines/. Some of the categories from the dropdown list show the correct permalink structure and some don’t… it’s a complete mystery and I cant work out how to fix it.

I have tried a number of things to fix this with no luck

reset permalinks from .htaccess , server database settings and just wp-admin.. didnt help
    deactivated plugins.. made no diff
tried diff themes to see if it was a theme thing.. no
tried different computers, different browers etc.. no

    I am stuck..

any help would be much appreciated..plz???.. thanks

update: I notice if the drop-down category menu widget is set to a list and the drop-down bit is not activated ..the problem goes away…

BUT I cant have it like that as the list is too long…

so I still need to fix this…anybody?

Same issue. Drop down list leads to “?cat=#” url rather than the permalink. all other category references (within post, list, etc) go to the proper permalink url (e.g /category/news).

doesn’t seem to be a solution anywhere. anyone?
