• I reworked all my categories this morning in order to create a category navigation bar. But when I went to create the menu, the top level of one set of hierarchies was not there – but its subcategories were.

I tried deleting the categories and recreating them – and now none of them are showing up.

I’m not sure what to do. I use the Canvas theme, in case that is helpful. The problem seems to be with WordPress, not the theme.

  • Do you have the same problem in the default theme with all plugins deactivated?

I don’t know – I have not tried that. Apologies that I am not a power user. So… (1) If I deactivate my plugins, will their data be saved? and (2) Same thing with the theme – if I change to the default theme (I assume you mean 2013), will all my settings be saved?

Thank you for your willingness to help.

WPYogi – I went ahead and tried that after a bit of research. And the answer is yes, I still have the same problem with all plugins deactivated and default theme.

Also the “broken” category does not show up in my category list under my widget – it’s as if it does not exist.

Could you post a link to your site so someone can look at it?
