Category display help

  • Can anyone please tell me how I get my categories in the sidebar to display the parent category with the child categories listed below.

    Like this

    Parent Category
    Child Category
    Child Category2
    Child Category3

    Parent Category2
    Child Category
    Child Category2

    I have made 2 parent categories in admin and added categories as children to them but on the display its displaying all the categories including the parents.

    I dont get it.

    Search google all nigh and nothing is helping

    I may have misunderstood so sorry if this is wrong, but:

    Try going into Appearance -> Widgets, find your Category widget, choose Edit, and there’s a checkbox that offers hierarchy, check that, and click the save button.

    again apologies if I’ve missed something but give that a go.

    Glenmorrow thanks so much thats exactly as I wanted it.

    fancy having a setting in the widget itself they should have put that setting in the actual page where you make the category thats why I have been banging my head against a wall LOL

    I even checked the widgets page before making the post here but could not see anything to do with categories to save my life

    now I just need to find out what I have done to my homepage it keeps saying this now a lot of times where the posts should be but only on my theme.

    It has been working fine until about 2:30am

    I fixed the other issue by re uploading my themes index.php

    Its ok now bu if you want a look be warned it has an adult theme.

    If it’s fixed, it’s not necessary. I’d remove the link.
