• Hello, I created and have a category with postings, but this one category when clicked on, it displays posts from a different category and not its own.

Why is it not looking at its own posts and how can I fix that?

    I greatly appreciate your help.

    Thanks,
    John

Any idea on this problem. Every category is working fine except for one, it will not show its own posts but chooses to show the posts from another category.

    Please help.
    Thanks,
    John

You might get more response if you provide a link to the blog in question, and more info such as which cat is misbehaving, and which cat it’s showing posts FROM.

Hi – Sorry about that, here’s the link of the blog.
    https://blog.1stserve.com

If you click on tennis instructions category (3) it will instead show tennis t-shirts category (22)

All of the other categories display properly accept for category 3 tennis instruction.

Even category 22 tennis t-shirts works right, it calls itself like it is supposed to.

    I apprreciate your help.
    Thanks you,
    John

Could you go into admin > Manage > Categories and open the two categories (3 and 22) for editing. Check the Catgeory Slug field: are they the same by any chance?

    Hi,
    Ijust checked:
Category 3 has a slug line of tennis instructions and the slug line for category 22 says tennis Tshirts.
    Thanks,
    John

That can’t be: they should be something like
    tennis-instructions
    tennis-tshirts
NOT the title but the slug!

    You are right.
Under mannage categories – edit. the category slug under the title for category 3 says: tennis-instructions

the category slug for category 22 says: tennis-tshirts.
    Thanks,
    John

    OK. Then the next step.
Set your post number to show in Options > Reading to 22 instead of 1 ??

The reason: it seems cat 3 and 22 and 10 are in parent/child relationship. And the default WP setting is that a category displays both posts in itself AND in its children catgeories. So, as it is your blog now, if you click back enough times on your “prev posts” link… you should have arrived finally to the posts in cat 3.

I didn’t realize it earlier because the idiotic default theme doesn’t show the categories in a hierarchical view.

How do I bypass the default and make it go directly to the respective category?
    Thanks,
    John

Ijust took the parent relationship out and made them no parent. and it works.

Is the backup utility in the admin recomended, is it stable and reliable?

    Thanks,
    John
