Category description not displaying for only one category

    I’m using a taxonomy template for the title and description for blog post category archives and it’s working fine for all but one category. Below are examples of the one that is working and the one that isn’t. One curious detail is the content in the og:description on the one that isn’t working (see below)…

    The only difference I can tell is that I tried to edit the category meta data directly and for it’s now using that custom info instead of the taxonomy template, but I’m not sure how to reset that. Everything looks fine on the category edit screen.

    We understand that you are using a template for the title and description for your blog post category archives and that it’s working for all except for one category.

    When you say a template, do you mean using the template of the Yoast SEO plugin under your WP admin dashboard > SEO (sidebar) > Search Appearance > Taxonomies tab and setting the SEO title and meta description using snippet variables for your categories? (https://yoast.com/help/how-to-modify-default-snippet-templates-in-yoast-seo/)

    When editing this specific category https://www.catalystcoachinginstitute.com/category/wellness-coaching/, could you go to the Yoast SEO meta box and check what you’ve set for the SEO title and meta description fields or could you include a screenshot of that? If there is any existing info populated for the SEO title and meta description, and if you remove it accordingly and save th changes, it should then use the category title and meta description template set with snippet variables under the Search Appearance.

    Yes, I’m using the template you mentioned to determine the title and description for all post categories.

    I actually tried exactly what you said above and everything seemed to reset using the template, but it’s still not working. I’m including two screenshots.

    1. The settings after I cleared everything out and saved.

    2. The categories page with just one SEO Score dot next to the category in question. It seems none of the others are showing a score which makes me think that it’s still trying to pull the “customized” settings that are not there?

    1. Thanks for more information. It looks like you have added snippet variables for this specific category in the category’s edit screen, so this should override any default template set under SEO > Search Appearance > Taxonomies.

    In the page source, there is no meta description, so Yoast SEO isn’t recognizing the changes that you’ve made.

    Does clearing your cache from caching plugins, the server, a CDN like Cloudflare, or the browser resolve the issue? If you are not sure how to clear the cache from a plugin, please contact the plugin author. If you’d like to clear the cache from the server, please speak to your host provider.     If that doesn’t help, it may be a good idea to check for conflicts by temporarily deactivating all plugins except for Yoast SEO and switching to a default WordPress theme like Twenty Twenty-One.

    2. The SEO and Readability scores are calculated when you edit the content on your pages.

    If the dot remains gray, that usually means that there isn’t any content to scan. Do you have any content in the category description or warnings under the Readability tab that gives more details?

    If you visit the edit screen or update the category description for the other categories, do the scores appear in the overview screen?
