Why is that? The plugin should accept these variables

  • I’m also seeing this warning since upgrade for %%category_description%% in the Titles & Metas > Taxonomies > Categories, and %%tag_description%% in Titles & Metas Taxonomies > Tags.

Despite the red warnings, the meta description is still being populated correctly as before though.

i hope it won’t be premium function for pay as all in this plugin…….

    Same problem and same warning…

    hi,

I have the same messages only for categories and tags

    Nick

    (@kercommunications)

I got the same warnings about %%category%% and %%tag%% and their respective description variables on a bunch of different sites.

Changing them to %%term_title%% and %%term_description%% seems to resolve the issue, but is a huge pain in the rear to do on a lot of sites that are set up with the old variables. If Category & Tag variables are going to be deprecated, it would have been nice to have a head-up or some way of automatically updating to Term variables.

I think it’s more just a bug in the error checking

I swiched over to term_title and got hundreds of GWT warnings for ‘Pages with duplicate meta descriptions’ as %term_title% wasn’t being replaced.

Switched back to %category%/%tag% which render correctly and the GWT warnings are slowly disappearing.

Now thats what worries me – a site that has been optimised and is running perfectly well for a good few years can suddenly be trashed and destroy previous SERP positions.

Their might be users that dont check GWT and are unaware what has happened.

The lack of feedback from somebody from Yoast is a little worrying due to the damage this problem can inflict on user websites.

Sarah, for me it it is just a red warning, the plugin is still functioning as before.

Meta descriptions are rarely used by Google in SERPs anymore, instead they will extract a more keyword relevant part of the page content to use as a snippet. I’m not saying it is worthless like meta keywords now is, but just much less important than it used to be. Personally I don’t think it will have much impact on websites SEO if the meta description is removed.

Yes it does concern me that some plugin authors choose to shun the www.remarpro.com plugin support forum, I like having all my plugin support in one place, one login, one community ??

I think its a bug %%term_description%% seems to be working fine

The warning should warn you for the use of variables in a template where they cannot be applied. For example using %%excerpt%% on an archive page.

This means that when you see a warning, there might be a problem with the variable you’re using. If you feel that the warning isn’t correct, please provide the following information to help us debug:
    * What variable are you using?
    * Where are you using the variable?
    * Should that Post Type / Taxonomy / Archive have the requested information? And if so, can you give an example of the expected outcome of the use of this variable?

We’d also love to see a screenshot of the problem (whole page), as that will help us understand what exactly is happening on your website.

@ Jamil Ahmed – one of the the plugin developers @tacoverdo said the above, would be great to get an update …

Here’s a screenshot showing the error:

Precisely, I have a similar title / meta construction and I am worried that the site will get trashed until some clarification is provided as I dont want to uneasily crash my site and at the same time, I have not updated because of the issue which is leaves me with a version that is not patched / updated ;(

Any developer want shed some light on how to proceed as its not just an isolated issue I think.

    hello

I get the same problem since the last update and by the way since the last update the share fb is not working, i can’t share the featured pictures

I’m having the same issue. Some response would be nice?
