Category color cannot be changed

I found another thread a year ago dealing with the same problem, but it was closed without any answer.

Now I run into the same problem: I want to change the color of a category, but the new value is not accepted. Changing the contents of text fields (eg. category description) works ok, so it isn’t a problem of caching or so.
