Category-based back-end prevent page edit/delete by Admin

  • Hi, looking for a solution to this scenario:

    An Admin accidentally edits or deletes (certain) pages from the back-end (Dashboard > pages).

    Is there a solution to prevent this, with a password that even the Admin must enter upon opening the page for editing from the back-end?
    The important pages all share the same category. Adding a page to the category needs to apply the same level of protection.

    I’ve looked at several potential solutions:

    • Access Category Password
    • Password Protect WordPress
    • Barn2 Password Protect Categories

    But they are all front-end solutions. Any help welcome.

    As far as I know, no. Admins can do anything and anyone to whom you give admin rights should be responsible enough to, at the least, leave things in trash for a couple of weeks after deleting them. Also, backup. And, again, backup.

    Ok, thanks Steve. I feared this might be the case. I’ll suggest using an “Editor” login for these tasks and save the “Admin” login for site admin.
