Category base + 404 and pagination

Greeting,

am having issue with the category base and pagination. have been looking several posts on google, but i don’t see any solution. Here why am opening a topic.

Well,
I set my category base as category into my permalink. when am doing /category/my_category/ it display things on my category.php page.

when am doing /category/my_category/page/2/ it works too.

but when am doing /category/ if forward me to my 404.php page error.
Is not supposed to forward on archive.php ?

Now, when am creating a page, named category, and when am doing /category/, it works. But, when am doing /category/page/2/ it forward me on a 404 error.

Here am stuck. Any tips or solution ?
