Category and Tag duplication and how to fix

    Hi, I have made the error of making a tag name the same as a category name. I wonder what is the best way to fix this. If I go through the posts tagged with same category and untag them, while leaving the tag in my wordpress will that help? This will leave the tag in my wordpress as number of Posts = 0
    Or would it be better to simply delete the tag? As I was once told to NEVER delete a tag or Google will count it as a crawl error.

    I did not know not to make duplicates and/or did not realize I was doing it at the time. I now am aware of this issue and would like to clean up my site as best I can. Any helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Delete the tag or uncheck the tag?
