• Is there any way of categorizing pages in breadcrumbs if those pages are not using a parent page.

For example, I have pages on fruits and vegetables. And I also have pages on apples, oranges, and pears. I don’t want to use fruits as a parent page for apples, oranges, and pears as I want to keep the URL structure as flat as possible.

But I’d like a breadcrumb to be site > fruits > apples

    Any way of doing this?

Thanks. Best rdfa breadcrumb plugin by far.

Honestly, this is where a Custom Post Type should be considered. You gain much more control and flexibility and they’re likely to be more semantically correct. The page post type is a ‘special’ post type for Breadcrumb NavXT since it can be the root for any other post type (e.g. blog page, or CPT root). To avoid hierarchy loops, it can only use the post-parent relationship for it’s hierarchy. Within Breadcrumb NavXT, Custom Post Types can use any taxonomy, post-parent, or dates as their hierarchy.
