• Hi all! First post here. I’m Chris, I’m using WordPress 2.2.1 for my Ninendo Wii site, https://www.showmii.com

WordPress really rocks. Perfect for my application!

I’m using categories (and the auto-generated category index in my sidebar, provided by the theme designer) to essentially build a directory on my site. Many of these categories only have 1 post associated with them. This is fine, it’s painless, and it means I get a lot of internal linking at a variety of depths. Many of my ‘category result’ URLs do well on google.

But, in instances where there is only 1 post in a category (i usually create a new category, every time I post new content, as well as assigning the new post to a broader category), I’d really like the sidebar link to go directly to the post, not to the post category. For example, when you click ‘Angelina Jolie’, I’d like the visitor to end up here:
    https://www.showmii.com/index.php/2007/06/22/angelina-jolie-mii/

    instead of here:

    https://www.showmii.com/index.php/category/angelina-jolie/

I assume it’s some sort of php code I need to change… ‘if category count = <x, then go to y, etc?

    help much appreciated, -Chris
