Categories text is missing in the menu while editing the page

  • Ok I’m going to try to describe: When I click to edit a post, I see the Categories panel, the check boxes are there but the Category titles are gone. The categories show up just fine in the Categories page, I can see them all. But in all the edit areas where I need to assign categories to a post the text is missing so I can’t tell which category is what.

    Try:
    – deactivating ALL (yes all) plugins temporarily to see if this resolves the problem (plugin functions can interfere). If this works, re-activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin(s).
    – switching to the unedited default Theme (Twenty Twenty, etc.) for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).
