    Hello,
I’m setting up a store in which we sell comic books and I have a question: is it possibile to change the labels “Category” and “Categories” to “Author” and “Authors”, since it is used to show the authors of a given book?

And how can they be shown in an order of your choice for each book, and not alphabetically, both in the product page and on the home page?

Here is an image of the problem:

    Thank you!

    Hi @cilnius

Thank you for reaching out — we’re happy to help!

    Categories order and label

From what I gather, you need to rename Categories to Authors (in both plural and singular of the terms), at your site, along with being able to manually select their order of appearance on product pages and results.

For the “quick ‘n dirty” solution, you could use a translation plugin like the Loco Translation plugin.

Otherwise, it would be best to look into custom post types (linked here is a lesson) — building an online bookstore is literally the example in the lesson linked above. Things can be taken further, also, as detailed in the video linked here.

Moreover, there are a few useful plugins for Custom Post Types available in the repo.

However, the plugins mentioned above are third-party, and we don’t provide help & support for 3rd-party plugins or themes as they’re outside our?support scope. It would be best to reach out to their plugin developers for further assistance.

I trust that points you in the right direction, but if you have more questions, let us know.

    We’re happy to help.

    Thanks you for your reply!
I already have a translation plugin installed, but it will be used to make the shop multilanguage (and I don’t think I can “translate” the primary language too). I’ll watch the lesson linked!

As per the second question, is it something possibile? The categories are showed alphabetically, but we need to have a specific order for every book (writer, artist, colorist, translator… it change from book to book). Is there a way to sort them manually for every product, so to mirror the order shown in the cover of the book (and, basically, the standard order in the market)?
E.G.: the book shown in the attached pic is made by Sonia Morganti, Francesco Vacca, Rossano Fragale, Silvio Costa. And I need that order. But WP/Woo automatically sort it alphabetically (and obviously by name, not surname: in its logic are simply labels).

    Thank you!

Glad to hear the tip for the Custom Post Types is useful, @cilnius . ??

Best to add them manually then. Directly in a product’s short description. Sounds like a good fit, based on the brief shared here.

I hope this is helpful! Please let us know if you have any further questions about this matter, or if we misinterpret your concern in any way. We will be happy to help you further.

Yes, they’re already there. The problem is “categories” are used as authors (at least in the PrintPress theme) so I have to find a way to sort them manually.
I already asked the PrintPress support: they usually directly solve all the problems but, in that case, they can’t intervene because is a WooCommerce related issue.
