I have a number of categories and subcategories which were working fine but then all of a sudden, most of the events are not showing when I view the category. Occasionally i might see one event but no others. I have confirmed that i have selected the correct categories within the event but i’m not sure what is going on.

At this point i would easily have about 50 categories and about 300 events, could it being overloading the plugin?

I have also had somebody modify the appearance of the events when viewed so they appear more consistent with the pages of the theme I am using, is it possible that some of these modifications have created issues with the categories? If so what part of the code has been altered that I need to pass on the person making the modifications?

I really need help here please as my event manager depends on users navigating the categories to choose the individual events.

    Thanks very much

    hi,

Is this in the single category page or using a shortcode? also, can you give us some sample link for us to see?

Hi i’m not using any short code, just making parent categories and child categories from the drop down menus.

I can show you a link but you’ll just see the heading an nothing else below it…

here is one that is working
    https://qldpolicesport.com/?event-categories=aquathon

Here is one that is only showing one event when there is actually 10
    https://qldpolicesport.com/?event-categories=track-field-19-yrs-mens

When i go to the categories within WP i can see the name of the categories and in the events column is accurately records how many events are in that category but it’s just when I try to view the category page that the events don’t show up.

It’s hard to say without knowing what was done, but customizations to the plugin could be the cause.

for example, if you create a page and use this shortcode:

    [events_list category=”track-field-19-yrs-mens”]

does that show your events? I’m assuming they’re in the future btw.

Thanks for your reply Marcus. I discussed your response with the person modifying the event pages and she said that in order to achieve the updated visual styling of the event pages, she DID NOT modify ANY of the EM plugin’s files, but rather a PHP file belonging to the Cosmox theme, namely single_blog.php. Additionally, she created several CSS rules that were necessary to override the certain default CSS rules of the theme and of the EM plugin. In a nutshell, the plugin is UNCHANGED.

Is there any chance at all that you could login into my WP panel and have a look to tell me what the problem is please? I am waiting for this problem to be solved before I purchase the pro version. I need the pro version because I need users to register for multiple events at the one time so there is no question that I will purchase it. I have just held off until this problem is revolved so as to not complicate the issue with the pro version.

    Is that a possibility Marcus?

    Hiya,

I would suggest first of all that you role back those modifications just to check whether they are the cause or not. Finding the actual cause first will make it much quicker to resolve this issue for you.

    Cheers,

    Thanks Phil,

Thats a decent suggestion but unfortunately i can’t undo it myself as I don’t know what was done. To wind it back I would have to pay more money and lose more time. If that’s what needs to be done then so be it but I’d dearly love Marcus to take a quick look for me and tell me whether that is the most appropriate option. Time is a big issue for me right now, as I’m running late on a launch date for the site as a result of this.

    hi,

maybe @marcus can give you better advice about this; however, am seeing some events on this links

    5 events at https://qldpolicesport.com/?event-categories=aquathon

    15 events at https://qldpolicesport.com/?event-categories=track-field-19-yrs-mens

I think i just figured out what was happening. For some reason when I cloned a heap of new events they failed to appear. Now I have gone through and modified the text within the event details for each of the events in question (somewhere near 250 of them) and now they appear just fine. What a pain in the neck. Perhaps it was a clone issue as much as anything else.

Glad you sorted it out and found a clue as to what’s going wrong.

I just tested this out, and it doesn’t seem like there’s a bug involved…. I duplicated an event and the categories followed suit.

If you try test-duplicating an event, does it not transfer the categories over for you? If not, is the event a recurrence, or are you using something like WP MultiSite (w/global tables?)?

    (@steamed)

Ok after much playing around i’ve tried clone and duplicate, both seem to work fine now but for some reason when I had previously cloned about 200 events off one single event it became a problem. That’s all I can really put it down to.

    I’m not using WP MultiSite.

This plugin fault is taking up so much time to work around. I don’t suppose one of the developers would like to log in and check out why it’s happening would you?

Please let us know on our pro forums and we can take it from there. https://eventsmanagerpro.com/support/

please reference this page and let us know how to reproduce this problem.
