Categories not working in Widget

Hi – in the Events List Widget on the right sidebar of my individual events, if I put a category ID in with anything other than zero, no events display. I know I have the category IDs right, because I’m using them in a shortcode elsewhere on the site. Why are they not working in the widget list?
