Categories not working

    Hi
    My categories do not work at all and i get an error 404. I have tried changing the permalinks from postname to plain and yes the categories then work in the navigation menu as well as a category menu, but that is the only option it seems to work on..which i don’t want plain because that then messes up all of my shared posts etc.
    I have changed the permalinks around a million times, changed the slug names etc etc and nothing appears to get the categories to work under the postname permalink.
    My theme is Kale child theme.
    Any help to fix this would be greatly appreciated! ??

    If that works, then try reading Using_Permalinks before setting a custom permalink structure again.

    I have checked this URL is working for category:-

    You need to add category before category name.

    Please check if I am write.

    You’re advice was absolutely no help at all sorry seeing i didn’t understand a word of the stuff on the link. Also I didn’t set a custom permalink, i just clicked on the option of ‘postname’ and it created it automatically.

    What did work was resetting the whole wordpress site and adding back each recipe to the appropriate url.

    All fixed now.
