• Just moved a WP site from one server to another using the Import/Export option instead of moving the MySQL DB. Moved fine but the Post Categories are not all visbile in the Dashboard under Posts, Categories. They are all there when I click the Parent dropdown under Add Category and they show under the Menu section as well as when you browse current posts but not in the Categories section. Any suggestions on how to fix short of rebuilding all the categories and reassigning all the posts?

  • I had the same problem after a move, but found the idea for a solution here.

Basically what I did was create a new dummy post, and assign every single category to it. That way the mapping got updated in the DB, and everything was back to normal.
